Gender inequality has been prevalent in society for ages. Gender biases are profoundly embedded in us and consciously or subconsciously, we start holding attitudes or stereotypes towards men and women most of the time. Cyprus has adopted several national action plans to address domestic (‘family’) violence, human trafficking, poverty, and social exclusion. In Cyprus, the promotion of gender equality through policy and legislation is a relatively recent phenomenon, according to the European Institute of gender equality- One of the most fundamental developments in #Cyprus is gender mainstreaming in peace and security.
